Frequently Asked Questions:

When looking for a daycare there are a few questions you should be asking.  Here are some answers to the questions you may have, or may not have thought of.

01

Are you subsidised?

As a private daycare we are not subsidised directly by the government.  In the case of private daycares it is the parents who are subsidised.  In order to receive your monthly ADVANCE PAYMENTS OF THE TAX CREDIT FOR CHILDCARE EXPENSES you must apply for it following the link below.  It is reccomended to allow 4 to 6 weeks for processing.  Once approved the government will direct deposit your payments to your bank account on the 15th of the month.  Some parents choose to pay their fees on the 15th when their credit is deposited.  Most parents end up paying between $10 and $20 a day depending on their income.  You do receive a Relever 24 at the end of the year that further reduces your fees by providing you with your Federal refund as well.

I'm a new parent, I am not sure what to ask.

The above is a link to a document on the MFA website that helps parents to know and understand questions they should be asking when choosing their daycare.  You want to make sure that the daycare you choose jives with your values and ideals.  Also, make sure you meet the educators that will be working with your child.  They are the primary caregivers, and will be the ones with your child most of the day.

What meals do you provide?

In Quebec, daycares must provide two snacks and one hot lunch.

Our morning snacks consist mostly of foods from the grains food group; muffins, pancakes, cereals, oatmeal etc.

Our lunches are cooked in house, and offer a wide variety of food from different cultures and vary throughout the year depending on the produce availiable and the interests of the children.

Our afternoon snacks largely consist of fresh fruits; bananas, apples, oranges, canteloup, honeydew, etc.

We try and stay away from artificial food.  However for some special occasions and birthdays parents are invited to bring in food to help celebrate the events.
